Design & Build of Traditional Brick and Flint Carport – Including Listed Building Consent

We were appointed to design and build a freestanding three-bay carport within the curtilage of a Grade II listed property, managing the entire process including listed building consent and planning approval.

Constructed using traditional materials, the carport features hand-laid brick and flint panels with a mix of knapped and cobble flint, all bedded in breathable lime mortar. This ensured full compatibility with the character of the surrounding heritage setting and met all conservation requirements.

A bespoke solid oak door adds a refined, hand-crafted detail to the structure, complementing the overall vernacular style and enhancing the property's appearance and usability without compromising its historic significance.

This project is a great example of how new structures within the grounds of listed homes can be sensitively designed to serve modern needs while respecting traditional craftsmanship and planning constraints.

If you're considering adding an outbuilding to your listed home, we can handle everything from initial design and permissions to traditional construction and finishing.
